Chapter 1

Zoom In Zoom Out
Compare how you see your side of the dice (zoom in) to how others see it (zoom out). Now define and prepare to share your side (what the scope is, what the limits are, what it is, what it is not).
NEXT STEP
Define what is important from both up close and from a distance. Ask why? Check with those in your team to see if they share this perspective, as well as taking theirs on board.
< NEXT STEP
Ask the person in your team furthest from your side of the dice if their situation is comprehensive and seen in the same way, as the most remote team member can be tempted to overlook the closer perspective. Check before decisions are made that affect the team.
< NEXT STEP
Listen to others in your team, rephrase it in your own language. Do you interpret it in a similar way? Can you fit your observation into the other's context? Make smart decisions on how to collaborate.
< NEXT CHAPTER
You can take an individual perspective and assume your side alone is right or... You can assume that others see things differently and common ground can only be found by exploring these differences. Let’s look around the dice thorough the perspective of everyone involved.
NEXT STEP
Define what you believe in and what brought you here to others (education, background, experience, values ). What do you believe is the solution? Share it with other people looking at the dice.
< NEXT STEP
Get other perspectives and ask others to rephrase yours. Find a way not to reject others and to listen. Create the starting point for discussion.
< NEXT STEP
Use discussion to build relationships between different perspectives that will be strong enough to resist conflict and endure pressures.
< NEXT CHAPTER
Think about cooperation between different teams working on the same project , coordinating and influencing each other in every direction. Let’s look around the dice at the teams.
NEXT STEP
Your team's perspective is not the only one, get your team to check their frame of the assignment and how it correlates with others' scope.
< NEXT STEP
Check that your team sees the others’ scope and vice versa. Devise a common plan to create synergy and clarification regarding limits of everyone’s assignment .
< NEXT STEP
Verify where is the beginning, where is the end of everyone's job or assignment. Check to see if all these work and fit together.
< NEXT CHAPTER
Now need to take everything into account at one time? Use the drone view and visualize the whole.
NEXT STEP
Agree, plan and optimize from everyone’s perspective … and ask about other dice that may interact with the one you are looking at.
< NEXT STEP
Check what the correlations between projects are, how they interact and experiment putting them together.
< NEXT STEP
Think of the 3 dimensions of Project Development:
1. Project Management – doing the projects the right way
2. Program Management – doing the projects in a coordinated way
3 Portfolio Management – doing the right projects
